The Harrisburg Area Tamil Sangam was founded in 1981 is now 29 years and growing due to enthusiasm and hard work of younger generation. In 1981 a few familes gathered at the residence of Mr.Byravan and Mrs.Lakshmi Vishwanathan for discussions. Mrs. Vimala Sarma then proposed the formation of the Tamil Sangam and proposed the name to be Harrisburg Area Tamil Sangam and from then its called as "HATS". The Excutive committee was formed. The First President of the Sangam being Mrs.Vimala Sarma has risen to great heights and from then hosting various programs involving kids and has been a stage for promoting Tamil Language in and around Harrisburg. HATS has been hosting various Music and Stage Dramas and been entertaining its members.
